CASE - Plugit’s New Data Warehouse: “The Best-Run Consulting Project We’ve Experienced”
🔶 The Challenge Plugit’s previous data solutions were ad hoc, using varied technologies that hindered scalability and efficiency. “We lacked a centralized, systematic approach,” explains Lead Software Architect Tommi Hagelberg. The company recognized the need for a robust data warehouse to streamline management and better serve clients.
🔶 The Solution A dedicated task force mapped data use cases and chose Google Cloud as the foundation for the new system. Partnering with Codento, they implemented the warehouse with remarkable precision. “Codento’s team understood our needs immediately and delivered the most concrete plan for execution,” Hagelberg notes.
🔶 The Results Within a few months, Plugit had an analytical data warehouse in place, even amidst summer holidays. “This was the best-run consulting project our team has ever participated in,” says Hagelberg, praising Codento’s knowledge transfer and ongoing support. Plugit is now equipped to manage and expand their data systems independently, knowing Codento will be there for future innovations.
BLOG – Why Do Data Professionals Prefer Google Cloud? And Why Should You Care?
Data engineers ensure your organization’s data is accurate, accessible, and ready for action. Yet, high costs and complexity often limit data’s full potential. Google Cloud changes this with tools like BigQuery, designed to simplify and optimize data management.
Why Google Cloud?
Data professionals prioritize platforms that deliver security, scalability, and usability. Google Cloud's BigQuery stands out with:
🔸 Cost efficiency: Pay for data processed, not stored.
🔸 Ease of use: Supports SQL, Python, and other familiar languages.
🔸 Scalability: Handles datasets of any size with high availability.
🔸 Integration: Seamlessly connects to BI tools like Power BI, Looker, and Qlik.
BigQuery: A Game-Changer
BigQuery eliminates infrastructure management with automatic optimization, separate billing for storage/operations, and AI-ready features. It powers 70% of generative AI startups, proving its value for modern data tasks.
Simplified ETL with Dataflow and Dataproc
Google Cloud’s Dataflow and Dataproc offer scalable, serverless ETL tools based on Apache Beam and Spark, allowing engineers to build robust pipelines for diverse business needs.
Codento’s Lightweight Data Model
Codento amplifies BigQuery’s potential with a pre-configured Lightweight Data Model—a scalable, cost-effective solution deployable in just eight weeks. Available as a managed service or integrated into existing environments, it streamlines data handling with minimal effort.
Google Cloud empowers data engineers with tools to transform raw data into actionable insights. Whether managing unstructured data, scaling operations, or leveraging AI, Google Cloud and Codento make it seamless.
CASE - BHG Finland: A Data Platform for Future Innovations
How Finland’s DIY e-commerce leader transformed its data foundation.
BHG Finland, the DIY e-commerce leader behind taloon.com, netrauta.fi, and talotarvike.com, serves over two million monthly visitors. However, fragmented IT systems and reliance on a single BI contact person caused inefficiencies and data quality issues in financial reporting, eroding user trust.
To address this, BHG sought a robust Google Cloud-based data platform in early 2023. They chose Codento as their partner for its well-aligned vision and expert team. “Codento’s professionalism made the collaboration seamless,” said Pekka Rantanen, Cloud Services and Integrations Lead.
Key Outcomes:
🔸 Improved reliability: Broader IT support team ensures continuity.
🔸 Proactive monitoring: Automated alerts fix issues before users notice.
🔸 Enhanced scalability: Built for future growth with Google Cloud best practices.
Codento implemented modular, event-driven architecture using tools like BigQuery, Cloud Functions, and Terraform. The platform streamlined processes by shifting data transformation to the cloud, freeing the BI system for reporting. “This foundation will enable innovations like automated data sharing with logistics partners,” Rantanen said.
A Future-Ready Data Platform
With Codento’s architecture, BHG now has a scalable, resilient platform. “We’ve only scratched the surface of what this platform can do,” Rantanen concluded. BHG’s transformation showcases how modern data solutions drive operational excellence and innovation.
CASE - Saving the Baltic Sea, One Sewer at a Time: Codento Supports Underground City’s Global Growth
🔶 The Challenge
Traditional sewer inspections rely on costly, slow video scans, leaving most networks unchecked. CEO Jyrki Kontio highlights the issue: “Operators rely on guesswork for repairs.” To scale internationally, Underground City needed a scalable, robust software overhaul.
🔶 The Solution
Partnering with Codento, Underground City rebuilt their software using the Google Cloud Architecture Framework. The result is a secure, scalable, and cost-efficient system, ready to support international growth and advanced AI capabilities.
🔶 The Results
With Codento’s expertise, Underground City’s software now meets global standards, enabling innovations in sewer management. “This software is the cornerstone of our mission to protect nature and drive international growth,” says Kontio.
